Ripple prepares for what could be a $1.1 billion XRP dump in August

Ripple is preparing to unlock 1 billion XRP , worth about $1.1 billion, on August 1, raising fresh concerns over potential selling pressure. At the time of publication, XRP was trading at $1.10 on July 24, down 1.76% on the day, with $1.05 billion in traded volume in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Ripple Labs typically unlocks 1 billion XRP from its escrow account on the first day of each month as part of a predictable schedule since 2017. With the token’s circulating supply at about 62.46 billion at press time, the August 1 release will temporarily inflate it by 1.6%. Ripple to relock XRP in escrow Although the company receives 1 billion XRP every month, it often re-locks between 60% and 80% to a new escrow contract. For instance, Ripple has re-locked 700 million XRP every month in 2026 after it received 1 billion tokens, hence reducing the net monthly addition to the circulating supply to just 300 million tokens. Consequently, Ripple could only inflate the altcoin’s circulating supply by about 0.48% in August if it follows its past trend. Worth noting that the escrow account held roughly 32,444,999,933 XRP, valued at over $35.6 billion, at the time of writing, according to data from XRPSCAN .
